On the literature the Commonwealth War Graves Commission provides it shows their badge. It looks like an 'Aladdin's lamp' emblem.

I was wondering how this came about and if it was meant to signify anything in particular ?

The lamp is a 'Toc H' lamp, which burned very dimly (there was a saying, "as dim as a Toc H lamp" when referring to people who were simple!!); I think the symbolisim is that the memory of the fallen still burns in an eternal flame.

Cheers Paul for all the information.

The more visits I make to military cemeteries, the more I appreciate what a fantastic job they do.
