Anybody going on 20 July 2009. We've booked & several people on this years 21 July Old Contemptibles tour (Smithy was the guide) have also booked. Should be a great tour, pitty I've got to waite so long.

I am still eagerly awaiting my copy of Richard Van Emden & Vic's book 'Famous'.

The write ups I've read about the book make me wonder if Leger could build a tour round the people in the book and where they fought & won their well deserved medals.

Every Leger trip is excellent but I for one would love to be able to relate to household names like J R R Tolkein, J B Priestley and the wonderful 'Frazer & Godfrey' from Dads Army.

Any chance Leger ?

Going it alone

I was wondering if anyone knew, or if anyone here was joining any of the tours alone? I've visited the Ypres salient about year ago with another coach company and i feel like there is so much i missed and i'd love to visit again (Many times!). Then i saw an advert for ledger battlefield tours after a trench documentary i was watching and now here i am! I have to say the trips seem great and i'm deffinitely interested.

Being a 23 year old woman i cannot find anyone to go again with (the last time i went my friend vowed never again!) so i was wondering if there are many people who go it alone because it looks like i'll traveling alone!

My daughter has bought me this 5 day break for Christmas. I am going in April. Has anyone else done this trip, or any other Leger battlefields trip, as a single person? I am a little daunted!

Waterloo Campaign 7th September 2007

If you are booked onto this tour, this is just a hello to introduce myself as your guide for next week.

As you might expect I'm a big fan of the Napoleonic period, and this campaign is surely one of the most interesting and exciting of the whole of the Napoleonic wars. As well as being a veritable cliff-hanger in terms of who was going to win, there is enough colour and controversy to keep even the most casual interest stimulated!

I look forward to meeting you at the start of the tour, and introducing you to the four key actions of this campaign over the duration of the weekend (- as well as some of the key Belgian beers!!!) :)

There will also be some excellent museums and excursions to experience, and if you are travelling with your good lady then I have tried to make the itinerary as fem-friendly as possible with some personal (=shopping) time in Wavre, an optional evening trip to Brussels, and even a visit to a Belgian chocolate factory on the way home! :Whistling:

If there is a particular aspect of the campaign that interests you, then do please let me know and I'll try to make sure that I cover it for you on the tour.

I wish you a speedy and pleasant journey to Dover, and I look forward to meeting you there on Friday.

Normally a Western Front especially Somme visitor but I hope this will be something special.

Well. I am honoured to be the first person to post here, its a great idea for people interested in military history, I am due to visit Verdun and Rheims in June and was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice, I have visited the Somme a couple of years ago with Leger and thought it was fantastic, this trip is a christmas present from my missus so i want to make the most of it, thanks in advance for any input

Merville Battery

When I visited the Merville Battery in November 2003, it was opened just for the Leger people, also on the 60th. Anniversary June 6th 2004 Leger had a strong presence.

I know Tony Lea has done a lot of work regarding Merville Battery, is it true that Leger help finance the Merville Battery?
