| I am looking to book my first ever tour and the two that leap out at me are All Quiet on the Western Front and the Passchendaele tours. I will be on my own and am looking to go end Aug early Sept and any views on which to go on would be appreciated (I am Irish if that influences). I have read the various mail but am still undecided!!!

| Hi Welcome to the Forum. I have been on both these tours and my favourite is 'All Quite on the Western Front.' You get to see 5 battlefields in total and is a good introduction for beginners to the battlefields. After you've been on this tour, you can then decide what you would like to go back and spend more time on. As an Irishman, the Ypres Salient at Wijtschate will be of interest. The Irish peace Park is excellent. On the Somme, the Ulster Tower is of particular interest and is fantastic. Both tours are excellent.

| Hi IanMc Yes....welcome to the forum. It's a great place for all sorts of info and well supported by many Legerers' old & new including Paul Reed. I agree with Ypresman that 'All Quiet on the Western Front' is a superb trip to get a taster for the WW1 battlefields. It was my first Leger tour and I've lost count of how many I've done since.....2 already this year with 2 still to come ! I did Passchedaele Remembered last October and would like to do it again but it's not in next years brochure (so far). I too am a single traveller (female) and which ever trip you choose you will have a great time. Everyone is really friendly and the guides are so helpful and knowledgable. You won't feel as though you are travelling alone for long. Keep an eye on the forum as we all try and give feedback on the tours which helps when choosing from so many. Enjoy your trip ! RMA

| Hi IanMc. I agree the "All Quiet on the Western Front" is a great trip for your first tour. I'm more WW11 myself but having been on this tour as a first ever WW1 experience, it is superb. Ed.

| Welcome aboard Ian, My 1st battlefields trip was very similar to AQOTWF, not with Leger though and covered a lot of the same ground. It proved to be an excellent introduction to this fascinating subject. Be warned however, The Somme will get under your skin and you will spend all your money and holidays on Leger trips Go for it.

| Yep totally agree with whats been said about the 'All Quiet on the Western Front' tour. Last time we went we took our two eldest grandchildren along & they really enjoyed it. We're going on the 'Old contemptibles' tour next week - staying in Ypres again - highly recommended. One for Paul, is the 1915 tour going to be brought back, I thought that was a brilliant tour. Standing on the battlefield of Loos was a real eye opener - a most unfavourable ground indeed. Lest we forget

Take that man's name!
Admissions like that make you buy the first round...

I suspect we will bring it back one day - so much new stuff coming up next year, that I don't think we have any room for more new tours, or bringing back old ones!
