| Hi I was wondering if anyone knew, or if anyone here was joining any of the tours alone? I've visited the Ypres salient about year ago with another coach company and i feel like there is so much i missed and i'd love to visit again (Many times!). Then i saw an advert for ledger battlefield tours after a trench documentary i was watching and now here i am! I have to say the trips seem great and i'm deffinitely interested. Being a 23 year old woman i cannot find anyone to go again with (the last time i went my friend vowed never again!) so i was wondering if there are many people who go it alone because it looks like i'll traveling alone! Thanks

| Hi Lucy I am a single female (although covered a few more years the you !) and I have travelled alone for many years. I have lost count of the number of Leger trips I've done and every one has been great. There are usually many other single people on the tours, both male and female. Everyone shares a common interest and because of this you will always be among friends....even if you only met them 5 minutes before ! The Leger battlefield guides are superb. They are friendly, easily approachable and a fount of knowledge. Take the plunge and book a Leger tour....you will not be disappointed. If you do book let us know here on the forum. I'm sure you will get a response from others who are on the same tour. RMA P.S. I'm not on commission for Leger but I keep trying !!!

| Ah thanks. It's nice to hear there are more people like me out there. I assumed everyone would be friendly but i had to ask, just in case! Which tour would you recommend to get started with?

| I would say the best one to start off with is 'All Quiet on the Western Front' tour. You do Ypres, Somme, Arras, Cambrai & Loos. Its a very good itinerary and an excellent introduction to these battlefields. As stated before I have met a lot of single people on these tours and its excellent the way everyone gels as a group.

| I agree. All Quiet' is an excellent tour if you want to see a little of a lot.....and then decide where to return to. If you have a particular interest in the Ypres area and Passchendaele, 'Passchendaele Remembered' is superb. I did the tour last year. I am doing 'The Old Contemptibles' in September which I have been told is a great trip and also looking forward to 'Advance to Victory' at the end of June. Its also well worth going Silver Service as well. RMA

| Hi Lucy, I can only reinforce the sayings of others. My first battlefield tour was Anne Frank and Oscar Schindler, and the thought of 12 days on a tour by myself was fairly daunting. Within a few hours of being on the main tour coach most people were chatting away as though we were all on a "works" outing. After doing 4 trips at executive level I agree it is worthwhile upgrading to silver service. I have had only one minor bad experience as a traveler with Leger and that was because on this particular tour there were two large groups on the. The combined size of the two groups was around half the capacity of the coach. Other than that there have been no problems. Hope this helps.

| Thanks again for the replies. I ordered a brochure and after having a look through it i think i might go for the Reims and Verdun tour. The day at Douaumont and Vaux sounds amazing. The first tour i did seems very similar to the "all quiet on the western front" tour that ledger offers. As soon as i book up i'll be back on here, hopefully meeting some people who are going too!

| Hi Lucy I did Rhiems & Verdun in October 2006. It's a really good tour. As well as the forts you will visit Fleury. The town of Fleury was completely destroyed and there is trail you follow through some woods. All the craters are still there and signposts have been erected indicating what was there...e.g blacksmiths forge, bakers etc. It's an amazing site. Close your eyes and you could be there in 1916 !
